Girls Basketball with Coach Blanch!!!
Friday, the girls' basketball team played at Rocky and soared to a great win. After leading 31-2 at halftime, the girls cruised to a final score of 45-6. It was a great day for the team as lots of players got good playing time.
Auria Wood finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Emery Hancey had 9 points and 3 rebounds. Other scorers were Eden SHup (7 points), Maely Grange (6 points), and Hadlee Earl (5 points).
Tomorrow, we play South, who is tied with us for first in the league. It's a big game. Encourage your students to come out to the game.

On Wednesday, the Eagles opened their season with a 43–29 win over Sand Ridge, overcoming early nerves to build an 8–2 first-quarter lead and a 21–6 halftime advantage. After an even third quarter, the Eagles pulled away with an 8-point run in the fourth and held off a late push by Sand Ridge.
Game MVP Auria Wood led with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals on 60% shooting. Hadlee Earl added 11 points and 6 rebounds, while Eden Shupe chipped in 4 points and 6 rebounds. Several others contributed across the stat sheet as the team showed resilience and depth in a strong opening victory. The Eagles now turn their focus to Friday’s rivalry matchup against Rocky.

In History Class for February, students created hearts representing the people who have inspired them both now and in the past. A heartfelt reminder to those who have inspired our students to greatness.

The Life Skills class held their Monthly Reading and Craft with the Librarian.

On Thursday, December 4, 2025, my dad, who lives there, some family members, and I delivered Wahlquist's National Junior Honor Society's Holiday Cards made during a service activity to the assisted living center, where we got names and room numbers to personalize them. The residents were so happy and pleased with the cards, kindness, and generosity. They said to tell the WJH NJHS all thank you, that you made their Holidays brighter, and they appreciated and loved the cards! The link is to a sample of photos of the residents who got the cards.

Hello,
Our school Garden Club pulled the annuals from our garden beds, then covered the beds with leaves to prepare for winter. The leaves give pollinators like bumble bees a place to overwinter. The leaves also add organic matter to be turned into the soil in the spring. We enjoyed working in our school garden.
Have a great Thanksgiving,

Hey Eagles, check these out!!

The NJHS got outside to enjoy nature today, getting exercise geocaching, learned team building, grant and scholarship applications, and participated in service. We appreciate the staff, parents, and helpers who were integral to our success today. The holiday cards made were so thoughtful and will be appreciated by local seniors. What a great experience that will live on with us all!

Dear Wahlquist ELA Team,
I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work happening in your department who are leading the district in ALL three grade levels with your CommonLit data. WOW! This is an outstanding achievement and a direct reflection of your collaboration, focus, and commitment to your students.
The data clearly shows that teams who work together—analyzing early assessment results, setting focused and specific goals, and following through with intention—see powerful gains in student proficiency. Your success is a perfect example of how thoughtful teamwork turns data into growth.
This kind of excellence doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes a team that trusts, collaborates, and supports one another—and that’s exactly what you’ve demonstrated. It also speaks volumes about the supportive leadership at Wahlquist Junior High, where administrators foster a culture that values both collaboration and academic growth.
I’ve included the fun “selfie” we took to celebrate—with Crackerjacks in hand—because you truly are hitting it outta the ballpark!
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for setting such a strong example for the district.

My grandpa, Dennis Berry who was in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. My sister-in-law, Emalee Peterson, who was a chemical weapons specialist in the Army Reserves and did a year-long tour in Kuwait. The picture of the display includes a picture of my great-grandfather, Don Foot, who served in the Army during WWII and his camp; he was military intelligence and a trainer. My great-grandpa trained many of the soldiers who were later part of the D-Day Invasion. The picture also includes his military issued jacket and the canteen he used.

Here is a special picture for me that I showed my classes today. My grandpa (second from left) with his flyboys during WWII. He was a copilot of a B-26 who flew missions over Germany and France.

Just a little show and tell for Veterans Day. I realized today that I recieved another Ribbon when I retired so my ribbon rack is out of regs... I will point out one of my favorite ribbons is the bottom left one. That is the marksman ribbon. I am right handed but shoot with the opposite dominant eye. I would have done better shooting left handed. I always did well sighting my weapon in. But by the test I had eye fatigue and passed but didnt shoot marksman. It took me 17 years to get that. At that point we also had to shoot in and out of our gas masks. (so much fun)
The other uniform is my Grandfathers Marine Seviceman coat. He was a WW2 Vet.
