I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work happening in your department who are leading the district in ALL three grade levels with your CommonLit data. WOW! This is an outstanding achievement and a direct reflection of your collaboration, focus, and commitment to your students.

The data clearly shows that teams who work together—analyzing early assessment results, setting focused and specific goals, and following through with intention—see powerful gains in student proficiency. Your success is a perfect example of how thoughtful teamwork turns data into growth.

This kind of excellence doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes a team that trusts, collaborates, and supports one another—and that’s exactly what you’ve demonstrated. It also speaks volumes about the supportive leadership at Wahlquist Junior High, where administrators foster a culture that values both collaboration and academic growth.

WJH FCCLA needs your help!

My grandpa, Dennis Berry who was in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. My sister-in-law, Emalee Peterson, who was a chemical weapons specialist in the Army Reserves and did a year-long tour in Kuwait. The picture of the display includes a picture of my great-grandfather, Don Foot, who served in the Army during WWII and his camp; he was military intelligence and a trainer. My great-grandpa trained many of the soldiers who were later part of the D-Day Invasion. The picture also includes his military issued jacket and the canteen he used.

Here is a special picture for me that I showed my classes today. My grandpa (second from left) with his flyboys during WWII. He was a copilot of a B-26 who flew missions over Germany and France.

Kelly Cooper shared this picture of his brother-in-law, Isaiah Barnes, Marine graduation ceremony!

Just a little show and tell for Veterans Day. I realized today that I recieved another Ribbon when I retired so my ribbon rack is out of regs... I will point out one of my favorite ribbons is the bottom left one. That is the marksman ribbon. I am right handed but shoot with the opposite dominant eye. I would have done better shooting left handed. I always did well sighting my weapon in. But by the test I had eye fatigue and passed but didnt shoot marksman. It took me 17 years to get that. At that point we also had to shoot in and out of our gas masks. (so much fun)
The other uniform is my Grandfathers Marine Seviceman coat. He was a WW2 Vet.

Mrs. Acosta's book club had a great time during lunch making monster doughnuts and monster bookmarks! They talked about their favorite spooky books, too. Next month they will be reading fantasy books. Sign-up with Mrs. Acosta in the library to participate and find your fantasy novel.

Hello,

I wanted to update you about our NJHS awesome field trip. The Hale Centre Theater is amazing! Their performance of “Sister Act” was spectacular! The nun’s church was set in a Gothic style Roman cathedral with flying buttresses, which I have been teaching about in Art 1. That was an academic connection. Also, I laughed, cried, and gained a greater understanding of love for all during the performance. What a great message!

We had a wonderful time!

For Hispanic Heritage Month, our LIA class created & decorated posters of famous Latinos with interesting facts about them. They then displayed these posters in the main hall for all students to see and learn about.

Mrs. Evans Life Skills class was in the Media Center doing their monthly storytelling with our amazing Media Specialist Mrs. Acosta.

Mesa held their Annual Barbie Bungee Activity Last
Monday! Their next meeting is next Monday after school in Miss. Whitworth's room , Come check it out, there is still time to join!
