Community Council Minutes

September 10, 2024

Attending: Brandi MacGoldrick, Brian Cottle, Jeanenne Chadwick, Jaime Byington, Bret Craynor, Danika Humphreys, Stephanie Hicken, Juliana Masters, Jessica Bennington

All council members were in attendance, no absences.

  3. Counselor Report-Jamie Byington *Enrollment-1040 *7TH Grade PCCR’S-next week *Club Rush-next Friday during lunch.  Club Rush is a push for all students to be a part of something.  School clubs will sit at tables during lunch and advertise their clubs. *Counselors are going to work with our librarian on monthly feelings themes.  This will be held in the library. *Counselors will have a monthly newsletter.

  4. PTSA Report-Danika Humphreys *Reflections *Lunch for teachers in February *Honor Roll Treats *Back to School stomp was a great success and fundraiser

  5. Elect Chair/Co-Chair Elections for officers for the 2024-2025 school year were held.  Jaime Byington was nominated for chair by Brandi MacGoldrick and Juliana Masters seconded the nomination.  Stephanie Hicken was nominated by Danika Humphreys and Brian Cottle seconded the nomination.  Both were elected unanimously.

    • Aspire Math up 2%

    • Science up 5.1%

    • Reading up 2%

    • Rise 8th Grade

    • English up 7%

    • Math down 1%

    • Sec Math1 down 1% (there were not a lot who took this test)

    • Science up 6%

    • Rise 7th Grade

Trust Land/TSSA 2024-2025 Final Plan WJH Trust Lands 2024-2025 *Allocation $155,193.00 Carry over $196.00 *Increase overall student proficiency & growth in Language   Arts, Math, and Science by 2% on Rise and Aspire   Assessments. Trust Lands Plan *Buyouts *Advocates *Chromebook Lease *Tech Replacement *Classroom sets of novels *Purchase software for math teachers TSSA Plan *Allocation $212,923.00 *Carry over $200.00 *Purchased video board for entry of school, the gym, and the   library. Goal #1 *Reduce class size in science *3 teacher buyouts *Move options to full time w/benefits *Math aide 5.75 hrs *Block for 1050 students *ALEKS License *Math tutoring *Licensing Goal #2 To provide help for students who are struggling with mental health and depression. *Panorama will be used to help identify struggling students. *Counselors and our Mental Health Therapist are here to also provide support for our students.

  8. Eagle Hour *40 minutes long *Tuesday and Thursday *Choice Board-students who have everything done can do one   of the extensions on the board.  If they get a Block Out, there   will be an incentive.

  9. PBIS-Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports *Big push by the district *Big green SOAR posters have been hung around the school *Rotations first week of school to help with student behavior   in assemblies, cafeteria, on buses, and at the roundabout. *SOAR tickets-given out to students for the good things they   do. Tickets can be redeemed at the SOAR store once a week   on Thursdays.

  10.   Outdoor Classrooms-Grilling and Smoking Class (9th Grade) *Rod Belnap was able to get smokers donated to schools. *We have 6 smokers and 2 black stones are coming *Super fun class for our students!

  11.   Teacher out for personal reasons.  He will be back October 21, 2024.  Gerry King is filling for him.  Thank you Gerry!!
