Coronavirus Video

Take a moment and watch this video. It contains guidance from our head nurse, Claudia Streuper, who is in continued communication with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the local health department.  Please note these important prevention tips:

  1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  2. Stay home if you are sick.
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  4. Cover your mouth when you cough with your elbow--not hand--or with a tissue (then throw the tissue in the trash).
  5. MOST IMPORTANT--Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom, before eating and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.

Weber Schoold District custodians are working hard to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.  We will continue to provide up-to-date, accurate information as we receive it.

Dear Eagle Nation,

It is amazing to think that we are coming to the end of first semester. It seems like we were just celebrating Back-to-School Night. The final day of this term will be Thursday, January 9. Students will not have school Friday.

We have seen a lot of success during the first half of the year, including championships in football and volleyball. Our softball team placed second in the district after an amazing regular season. NAL competed in the playoffs, as well.  Our VEX team has also been very successful in their competitions. Our band, choir and orchestra groups have performed amazingly.

All of our students came together to raise over $16,000 for our Sub for Santa fundraiser. We were able to help 10 families with Christmas and donate $5000 to the Christmas Box House. A group of our students affiliated with our Spanish department and our choir spent a day at Roosevelt Elementary. Our choir put on a performance for the elementary students. Our students were able to help the elementary students pick out two books that had been donated by Wahlquist students. It was such a great experience to see the joy that these books brought to the elementary students. As I walked around the classrooms, the students were all talking about their new books and the students that helped them choose their books. It was touching to see the impact that our students had on them.

Our teachers have spent professional development time working with their PLC teams on Power Standards for their classes. You can find those at our Wahlquist Curriculum site. These standards allow our students to know exactly what they will be learning in their classes during the quarter. We have posted these power standards in the classrooms as well as the hall ways. I appreciate the time that our teachers have taken to compile this information so our students can better understand what is being taught in class.

If you have visited our website lately, you have noticed some changes. We have updated the site to help you find information easier and quicker. One of the new features is an area to get help with technical questions. You can find this information under the students tag on the main page. At the bottom of the list you will see Student Tech Help. You can find help with Google Classroom, Canvas, and some of the other programs that our students are using. This should be a great help when you run into issues outside of school.

I just want to finish by thanking our community for the support that we receive. I am continually amazed by the quality of young men and young women that walk the halls of Wahlquist. It is because of the bond that this community has with this school. It is great to be an EAGLE!!

Scott Elliott
