Welcome to the Wahlquist Junior High School Community Council

“The public is welcome to attend Community Council Meetings"

WHAT IS COMMUNITY COUNCIL AND WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP?

Each year, all Utah schools receive funds from the State LAND Trust.  This year Wahlquist Jr. High School received over $86,000 to use to improve student learning.  In the past, this money has been largely used to decrease class size, provide classroom supplies, equipment and state of the art technology, and also training opportunities for teachers.

Every school is required to organize a Community Council made up of parents and teachers to develop a yearly plan to allocate these funds within the school and to oversee spending.  The Council also serves as an advisory group to provide input on a School Improvement Plan, and other school issues, policies and programs.

The WJHS Community Council is re-organized each fall.  If you are interest in joining our Community Council, please contact the school.  New council members are elected in September/October each year.   All parents of students currently enrolled in the school are eligible to run for election to the Community Council.

Proposed Meeting Schedule

All WJHS Community Council meetings will be held at 6:45 a.m. in the WJHS Office Conference Room.
